Thanks Amanda,

This is a very helpful summary!

For Scenario 2, if the Hadoop cluster have n0, n1, n2, n3, totally 4 nodes.
Where n0 is management node, which has no HBase RegionServer., while n1,n2,n3
are all HBase Region Server, can we install Trafodion on only n1, n2 , not on
n3?
IMHO, this is not a reasonable installation, so I just want to check if this is
considered or not? Since we have to copy coprocessors jar to ALL RegionServer
nodes, otherwise, n3’s region cannot open and sit idle, after we change the
hbase-site.xml during Trafodion installation.

Thanks,
Ming

主题: Trafodion Cluster Configurations Currently Supported

Scenario 1:
Trafodion and Hadoop on all the same nodes.

Hadoop Nodes: n0 n1 n2 n3
Trafodion Nodes: n0, n1, n2 n3

Note: Does not matter which node trafodion is installed from ... we almost
always install from n0. Best to stay that way (only because we have not tested
otherwise... but it should work).

Scenario 2:
Trafodionon a subset of Hadoop nodes

Hadoop Nodes: n0, n1, n2. n3
Trafodion Nodes: n2, n3

Note: Trafodion MUST be installed from node n2 (or n3). Trafodion can not be
installed today on n0.
Note 1: Trafodion may be installed on a subset because n0 and n1 are management
nodes.

Scenario 3 (Not supported):
Trafodion and Hadoop on different nodes
Hadoop Nodes: n0, n1, n2
Trafodion Nodes (with HBase client): n3, n4, n5
Note: This needs MUCH more testing and I am pretty sure it doesn't works today
Note 1: Trafodion will also need to be installed from n3.

Future scenarios would include Scenario 3 and Trafodion being able to install
outside of the "Trafodion cluster" from one of the Hadoop management nodes (or
any node). To be clear, we in no way have this today.
