Hi,

IMHO, 2 nodes is not a recommended configuration. But it is OK for study and
test.

For trafodion itself, all of its own components are peer to peer , except the
DCS master, and even that is rather transparent to end user. During
installation, you don’t need to explicitly specify which components running on
which node. You just enter the list of nodes during trafodion_install prompt,
and the installer will take care of the rest.

But before you install Trafodion, you have to install a Hadoop system with at
least :HDFS, HBase and Hive installed. The recommended way is to install a good
Hadoop Distribution like CDH.

For Hadoop, I don’t have much experience for 2 nodes configuration, but it
seems not too much choices there. You can install all ‘masters’ on 1 node, and
‘slaves’ on both nodes, for example, 1 name node, 2 data node. You may also
need to change the HDFS replicator factor from 3 to 2, but I am not expert of
HDFS. With CDH, this should not be too difficult.

Other people may have better suggestions.

Thanks,
Ming
