It seems to be a known issue. I found the following thread:

Subject: XMLHelperTestCase fails on Java 1.6

When I build the SDO Java binaries, one testcase fails:

 testEncoding(org.apache.tuscany.sdo.test.XMLHelperTestCase)

This happens with a fresh SVN checkout and also when building the code
from the 1.1.1 release (apache-tuscany-sdo-1.1.1-src.tar.gz).

I tried OpenJDK 1.6 and also Suns VM 1.6, same problem with both. If I
switch to Sun VM 1.5, the build succeeds.

As I'm bearly beginning to get to know Tuscany, sticking to 1.5 is no
issue for me. But I was still wondering if this is a known problem.

Regards,
Michael
