rendering && in velocity

Please guide me on how do i go about rendering && in velocity. I have tried few 
possible ways without any success. It keeps rendering it as &&. 
Although "&&" is logical AND operator in velocity, is there any way it can be 
rendered for other purposes.

i  want to render && like this example:
 RTRV-1&&4; 

but it does it as RTRV-1&&amp4;


Please let me know on this.
