I don't think anyone is working on it right now. The best way might
actually be to rip out the code from axis and write an xfire-axis
module, I'm not sure if that would still be slow or not though. At the
very least it would be easier to use. It would probably take a bit of
work to support it with the Aegis binding, not to mention that doesn't
support generation right now.
You're welcome to hack on it, but I can't say that its high on my list
of goals. :-)
