I found this the other day - which should be able to provide transparent
binary xml support to xmlbeans.

It says it has StAX & SAX suport. Anyone ever used it?

One of the Axis 2.0 Summer of Code students is working on a StAX
binary xml parser. If/when this gets finished it should be trivial to
use binary xml to read/write xmlbeans. As for what flavor of binary
xml they're looking at using, I have no idea....
