The latest release compatible with JDK1.3.1 is xmlbeans-1.0.4-jdk1.3. You can find it in the download section of the project: http://xmlbeans.apache.org/sourceAndBinaries/index.html#Current+Release Since v2, XMLBeans is only compatible with jdk1.4 or higher.
