In my experience the easiest way is via XmlCursor. The API's are
pretty straight forward but let the list know if you need a hand.

How do I do this? I think I have not enough knowlegde about namespaces

Can I alter my rss.xsd with an extension to add the source-tag as a
child of the item-tag? Or can I use XmlCursor or execQuery to reach my
goal? I am a bit confused about all possibilities.
