I can't say I've needed to do what you are describing, but it should be possible with some additional impl on your part. As far as managing the database side of things, XMLBeans doesn't do any of that for you, and it sounds like you want to use Hibernate to manage your DB interaction. If I may suggest, find an ORM solution that meets your needs and then see if it works with XMLBeans. -jacobd
