Hi Boying, ZooKeeper uses Netty framework for the client/server communication, but this is configurable. By default ZK uses NIO, user needs to set java System property "zookeeper.serverCnxnFactory" to "org.apache.zookeeper.server.NettyServerCnxnFactory" to enable Netty based communication.
Netty framework has built in support for encryption (SSL) and authentication (certificates).
