Hi,
Could I please get a code review for my fix for:
7096716 slapd(8) man page hidden where neither man nor smf can find it
http://monaco.us.oracle.com/detail.jsf?cr=7096716
Webrev is at:
http://jurassic.us.oracle.com/~richb/7096716-v1
I still don't understand why the section 1, 5, & 8 man pages are in
special
man*oldap subdirectories - we generally only do per-component
subdirectories
for the man3* for libraries since otherwise man3 would be
unmanageably large.
On SFW we were using the following conventions to renumber the man pages
for FOSS project developed mainly for Linux which was bundled with Solaris:
https://dorfl.cz.oracle.com/twiki/bin/view/Dorfl/OSrcManPgs
...after some urgentions only the mangler.man.stability was added. It
can solve only one half of the problem as it was documented on our TWiKi.
So the section in openldap.p5m should mangled approprietly:
usr/share/man/man4oldap instead of usr/share/man/man5oldap
usr/share/man/man1moldap instead of usr/share/man/man8oldap
...patching the sections in project which has only several files via
patches/*.patch is not so complicated but there are the projects in
Userland which has several hundreds of files containing also several
thousands of hyper-links in documentation. So Userland currently does
not supply the sufficient replacement for methods as is used on SFW.
I'm not aware of any other commands with subdirs of those - we don't
have
man1git for git's 100+ man pages, why man1oldap for ldap's 10? Do
they
conflict with other man pages with the same name? (I see a couple
conflicts,
such as ldapsearch.1, but not many.)
usr/share/man/man3oldap/ - will conflict with appropriate entries from
libldap.so.5 library.
