I use Cocoon 2.1.8 with a minimum build (CForms, AJAX only). When Cocoon
2.1.8 war is deployed I can find log4j-1.2.12.jar in the WEB-INF/lib.
This jar contains org/apache/log4j/Layout you seem to be missing.
Although I do not run jrun4 on Win 2003 Server but Tomcat 5.5.9 on SuSe
and Debian GNU Linux but this should not make any difference.
