I guess it's not clear what the problem is. You say that everything in
the display is fine, so are you just concerned that you're seeing
unexpected HTTP response codes? Is there some other symptom?
When you get the 500 and 404 errors, there should be something useful
logged to the servlet container's logfile or console. What does that say?

("undefined" not found, of course, why the heck does it call
"undefined"). On display everything is either fine, the textfield is
emptied, and/or it shows a red exclamation mark noting that (the just
filled) textfield is empty and required...
