We're looking at performance issues with the intranet repository in our
enterprise. I was looking at some Maven build output while downloading
artifacts, and I wanted to be clear on exactly what is indicated by some
output while downloading artifacts.

Here is a somewhat elided block of build output:

-----------------------

As an example, I'm focusing on the download of the commons-lang3-3.7.jar
artifact. The file size was 500kb. The output shows "Progress" lines,
about every 4 kb (about 125 of them). At the end, it said that the
resulting download speed for that artifact was 210 kb/s.

In the code that prints these "Progress" log lines, does it print that
every N time periods? If that download rate is accurate, it should have
taken just over 2 seconds. I think it's taking much longer than that.

Can anyone give me any background on this?
