Just to point up something
You don't "need" an interface and a impl object, you just need a contract (definition of the business interfaces) and a implementation. You can use Concrete classes or abstract classes as contracts as well.

Just use Spring JDBCTemplate to begin with. You will see how your code
will become lighter. You are going throught too much at the same time.
Take it easy, one step at a time, Agile approach :)
Converting to Spring and Hibernate when you don't have any previous
experience on those 2 frameworks can take some times, althought I
highly suggest to use them in a new project but you need time and good
books :p
