I strongly believe that using the message component would be good -
You have to be inline with server side validation _and_ AJAX here,
where concepts like server side and client side loose their
importance.

The thing is that usually, no span will be rendered for the message
component, if there is no message available for it. Travis and Gerald
have fixed this by always rendering the t:message/t:messages
components by default.

Now the thing left to do is to make sure the validation uses those
placeholders...
