Finally I think the penny dropped and I realised that (like C, PHP and all the others) that in fact I can put this in my utils.pl file:
:-if( \+ current_predicate(utils_included/0)). utils_included. : : : :-endif and all of a sudden life is good again! Thanks again Paulo! :) Sean
