I am new to ActiveMQ, so some of this may be obvious to others. What are the
main ways to control the way the broker uses memory, other than persistence
settings? I've search for documentation and these forums, and it seems the
main thing is memoryUsage, tempUsage, etc. However, I can't find
user-friendly documentation on these and what the various settings mean. (A
Wiki page on this topic would be useful, by the way.)

Any chance someone could give a reader-friendly rundown of the basic
controls and what they do (or a link to this, in case I missed it)?

Also, what are some good ways to monitor ActiveMQ's memory usage? Just
jmap? Or use JMX? I'll try different things, but (again) any tips would be
appreciated.
