Better try the release candidate from: http://people.apache.org/~gtully/staging-repos/activemq-5.2.0/org/apache/activemq/apache-activemq/5.2.0/ or maybe even the latest 5.3-SNAPSHOT If you (can) run on Java 6 try to detect deadlocks using jconsole I found one in RC1 in a pure master/slave configuration.
