I increased the pending message limit strategy from 1000 to 5000...
So far this has helped, no further heap space errrors.
JVM config;
# Initial Java Heap Size (in MB)
#wrapper.java.initmemory=3
# Maximum Java Heap Size (in MB)
wrapper.java.maxmemory=1024
