Hi William- There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of messaging patterns possible. There isn’t a one-side-fits all tuning option.
The impacts include message size, number of destinations, message rate, QoS, security, etc. For the Linux OS, most common thing to keep an eye on is file handles. Any enterprise-grade has already tweaked that setting, but some personal-use or free distros will default the number of file handle limits to 1000 or 1024 and that is too low for most message brokers or databases.
