I've never looked into the following -- but by now I should have. Maybe it could be related.
I've used aox+tbird for the last 7 years. Whenever I receive a new message, Thunderbird will regularly (more-often-than-not) show details about the new message, as well as seemingly erroneous messages in the new-message-popup, and often from some other folder. Recent messages from 'Drafts' are a common occurance.
