Yes, I think so. I have not seen that "ANY" query any more in a while. But the real test involves using my iPad which I will do tonight.

And if it does, is that faster or slower than the version with unnest?

I ran the query manually and it is faster (325ms) than the unnest version (4530ms)

I think you could use the optimized path in WhereSet for the version without the ANY clause and additionally should use the UNNEST variant for all other cases - and it does not matter if it is 1, 2, or many values you re comparing mm.uid against.
