It has been a while since I looked into it, but as far as I can remember (and in all likelihood), this is only a problem during the authentication phase. I.e. NGinx proxies the authentication phase using its own translation, then once the authentication has been completed, it is likely that NGinx turns into a completely transparent proxy (so any subsequent unsolicited response is probably fine). -- Stephen.
