Axel's second pull request seems intuitively too complex for the problem... I believe that a solution should not be more complex than the problem, and that PR makes me feel uncomfortable.
I shall an implementation of my own to solve the same problem, and then merge one of the two. Even if it violates my intuition of proper complexity and simplicity.
