You can use the -e option to specify commands to be executed on apex cli
For example :
apex -e "list-apps"
I had a single application running and following was the output
apex -e "list-apps"

"startTime": "2016-12-16 11:59:07 +0530",
"id": 1,

"state": "ACCEPTED",
