My pom.xml is the one downloaded when running
"mvn archetype:create -DarchetypeGroupId=org.appfuse
-DarchetypeArtifactId=appfuse-archetype-basic
-DarchetypeVersion=1.0-SNAPSHOT -DgroupId=com.mycompany -DartifactId=myapp
-DremoteRepositories=http://static.appfuse.org/repository";

There are some differences in how it's configured compared to what you're
describing here. I tried to change it and then run mvn jetty:run-war, but
with the same error.

Seems like the tables haven't been created yet!

Caused by: org.dbunit.dataset.NoSuchTableException: user_role

org.dbunit.database.DatabaseDataSet.getTableMetaData(DatabaseDataSet.java:192)

org.codehaus.mojo.dbunit.AbstractDbUnitMojo.execute(AbstractDbUnitMojo.java:115)
        ... 22 more

I have a fresh installation of MySQL 5, and according to documentation, the
password should be blank.

Could there be other differences in pom.xml you haven't explained here? The
simplest thing would perhaps for you to look at the pom.xml which is
downloaded when running "mvn archetype....", change what's missing/wrong,
and than I can try another time later this evening (I'm in Norway).
