After doing some testing, it looks like the native2ascii plugin works,
but EhCache's GzipFilter messes things up.  Here's the bug for
EhCache:

I'll probably comment out the EhCache filter-mapping in the next
couple AppFuse milestone releases (until there's an upgrade that fixes
the problem). I've added instructions no how to integrate this plugin
in JIRA:
