Depending on the structure of your project it may not be necessary to run
mvn package. A few tips for Maven:

1) Run with -o flag if you are sure you have all your dependencies locally.
This will save mvn checking the remote repositories for SNAPSHOT updates,
etc.

2) If all you have changed is a jsp page or two, mvn war:exploded may give
you what you need.
