Thanks, "mvn compile" fixed my problem - not sure how I'd got away with 
running mvn clean prior to this without a problem, but never mind!

For the record, I've now created within Eclipse via the "External Tools" dialog 
a "maven clean rebuild" task that does a "clean" followed by a "compile", so 
that one doesn't bite me again.

I'll try and avoid using the "maven clean" task that appears on the pom.xml 
right-click menu.
