Yes, it's OK to delete the lib directory because they should be in your classpath. If you're using MyEclipse or WTP, however, it might need this directory (and the files in it) to work. The reason we recommend deleting it is because Struts 2 doesn't work when there's more than one instance of struts.jar in the classpath. You can try it, but if you get a message from Struts saying that there's more than one struts.xml in the classpath, you'll know it's caused by duplicate JARs.
