All In my current job, we are using AppFuse 1.9.x with Eclipse IDE and the Sysdeo Tomcat plugin.
With just a few minor changes to the AppFuse directory structures (mainly moving web/pages to web/WEB-INF/pages) and the use of DevLoader with the Sysdeo Tomcat plugin, we now let Eclipse compile for us and there is no need for a seperate deploy stage.
