Tiles 2 works with Struts 2 and Spring MVC (as far as AppFuse frameworks are concerned). Yes, you can use it with JSF.

We used Tiles for the first couple years of AppFuse, but switched to SiteMesh because we found it easier to use and configure.

Someone e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago saying he got the following
working with Facelets, but I haven't heard back from him since.

Tiles will likely integrate better with JSF - but Facelets also has
built-in composition support.
