i actually dont have a pom.xml in the directory.
It works now, (question: the -U option is not mentioned in mvn help, where
does it come from?).
Anyway it looks a bit strange this message:

I'm not sure, but I think, I had the same error the last days.
In my case I got the error, because I was trying to create the new
project inside an old project. I just had to change into a directory
without any pom.xml in it and the error vanishes...
