Not yet. You have to stick to the work-around.

@Matt: I can reproduce the error with the tutorial. See the surefire report. 
This suggests that there is is some essential problem. Maybe, in some of the 
dependencies. 

1. checkout a Struts 2 Basic project
2. follow the Persistence Tutorial (with Hibernate) 
3. 'mvn -Phsqldb test -Dtest=PersonDaoTest'
    --> You end up with the UnsatisfiedDependencyException
4. make the work-around in pom.xml and the Dao will pass.
