http://raibledesigns.com/rd/entry/does_struts_2_suck Unfortunately, Struts 2 / OGNL doesn't blow up when a property is not found - this would be my preference. Folks said it didn't happen when using FreeMarker but I've noticed it happens there as well. Because of this, a project I'm currently working on has moved to Spring MVC. Developers need to be told when they fat-finger a property name. You should be able to turn off this warning my modifying your log4j.xml.
