I figured out the problem is in footer.jsp. Apparently, <security:authentication operation="fullName"/> is no longer working anymore. If you have that in your code, it will generate a blank page with no stack traces what so ever even when I turn on the debug logging.
Matt, if you can add this additional instruction, that will save lots of time for others.
