I was having this problem and spent some time trying to fix it. I am not velocity expert but it seemed to me that velocity had problems with recursivity (didnt keep the values in the stack after the call was finished). What I finally did was to have an iterative version of up to 3 levels (I dont think more than 3 levels of menu gives a good user experience anyway).Br, Oscar
