Yes we now we are ouitdated on the version so we should upgrade. In the 
instructions for this it says we should increase the lengt of some fields in 
the database, how can we do that for the embedded Derby database?

This appears to be a problem with the database connection. Are there any 
earlier exceptions when the server last started up? Does it go away after a 
restart?

As a side note, you're using quite an old version. I'd recommend upgrading.
