Yes, the artifacts seem to be deleted because like you said the download box is 
empty. But, I also get the same problem with snapshots artifacts, but in this 
case, the download box is not empty (you have the download links but if you 
click on them you get an error - unavailable resource).

I've opened a trivial bug ticket on JIRA.

This looks like a different issue - as it is a milestone release there are 
still some kinks to be worked out. Can you file it?

FYI, when I tested it, the behaviour I got was that all the artifacts were 
deleted, but the project-level metadata was not (so I could still browse to the 
artifact, but the download box was empty).
