Hi Christian,

There is indeed a difference between the "ownership" and "residence" relations.

Dragging a class from the explorer onto the deployment diagram, and then draging it onto a component does set the residence relationship.

In some other combinations, (including the one you mention, dragging a component on a node) the ownership relation is set when dragging, which is not correct for a deployment diagram AFAIK.

See issue 3079 at
http://argouml.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3079
for a loosely related issue.

Can you enter a bug report for this dragging problem?
See http://argouml.tigris.org/project_bugs.html

Thanks,
Michiel

Subject: [argouml-users] Deploying components on nodes

Hi,

in the UML 1.4 metamodel there is a n-n deployment relationship between nodes and components as well as between components and model elements (e.g. classes). Is this possible in ArgoUML? So far I have only partially succeeded in this. For example, when you drag a component into a node, the components namespace changes to the node, however, the nodes "Residence" field remains empty. So, it seems the component is included in the namespace hierarchy, but not into the deployment hierarchy.

Regards
Christian
