I've been playing around with Maven recently and put together my own plug-in (just a simple IDL to Java generation for a project). I've also been doing so early work on tools to help with meta data and packaging. Based on that experience, I've started thinking about plugins capable of suppporting the following:
a) automated meta info generation
b) automated block packaging
c) automated component/block testing
d) automated component/block documentation
e) component execution within the context of a build
