ATM there is no real easy mechanism. I am currently working on making it easy to write testcases by reusing parts of kernel but thats going slowly atm. Paul was working on developing a unit testing framework PUnit a while back (you can see it in phoenix CVS). However I am not sure on its status atm - Paul?. What I have been doing up until now is just manually creating the services and manually calling all the lifecycle methods.
