Time to start a new project, which mean technology evaluation time! Oh goody!
Last project, I quite successfully used Avalon and Phoenix 4.0.4 as the framework for my server application. Very pleased, and it certainly exceeded all my expectations. Actually, as using new technologies go, it was rather painless. But now the next project looms (no pun intended), and I need to decide if I'm going to continue to use Phoenix/Loom, or if I'm going to use Merlin. I've downloaded the Merlin binaries and went through all the tutorials and read through some of the basics. My hat off to Steve and his crew. However, I've got this slab of Phoenix components, blocks and applications that I wrote and assembled for the last project. Of course, I want (and need) to re-use a number of these entities. One thing I haven't seen in all the marvelous Merlin documentation is some kind of Phoenix-migration-porting-reusing-guide type of document. I've got a basic idea of the merlin container, and how to create new components for the container, but I don't have a clear idea how to re-use my Phoenix blocks even though there is much press touting that merlin supports re-use of the Phoenix-style blocks. Any tips, help, suggestions from some of you (by now) Merlin-gurus would be most appreciated.
