It sounds good. If it is minor, I can apply the patch. Or (if everybody agrees), we can give the CVS write permission.
Updating to eliminate the BlockContext stuff is minor - updating to generate a seperate api and impl jar is somewhat dependent on the existing seperation of [interfaces + exceptions] from [clases] in the ftp codebase. I noticed that there is a seperate /interfaces directory in the source tree - is it safe to assume that this represents the ftp server API? If so, there is not a lot to do (some build.xml editing).
Even so, I would give Timothy write access so he can get on with the updates and we can do more testing/validation/enhancement cycles.

I have made changes to the FTP server codebaselocally and have succeeded in getting it to execute
in both merlin v3.0 (using new excalibur and
cornerstone jars) and the phoenix 4.0.3 distro that
comes with the server.
The changes were fairly minor in about 1/2 dozenfiles.
Would somebody want these files, or would like forme to check them into the codebase?

If I had write access to the codebase, then I'd do
changes. Otherwise, I'll just wait for someone toask for the mods.
Rana is the main man concerning the FTP server (on
cc). I think it would be really interesting to talk with him about helping
out with a seperation of the api and impl which would make
reusability of the service much easier. For example, I could declare
an FTP api jar in my root container and include the ftp server container as the implementation. Without an API/impl seperation I
have to include everything into my classloader (which is kind of
icky).
