Planned? No. At least not that I know of. However, Fortress has its own meta-format so you don't have to use the .roles file. Details at: http://avalon.apache.org/excalibur/fortress/using-meta-info.html And I swear there more docs somewhere, but at the moment I can't find them. You might want to search the mail archives since this has been discussed before. As for Fortress, I don't think there is any definitive roadmap a 1.1 release.
