James runs in Merlin as well (in fact that's how your message was received locally and how this message was sent). Concerning the Composable interface - its better to migrate to Serviceable because that simply means that your not exposing Avalon APIs on the services your component exposes. However - I don't think that will solve your problem with Phoenix concerning the Block interface. Moving to Merlin would simplfy the problem of identifying your problem - once you have something validated you could easily backport to Phoenix.
