Hello, I'm having problems understanding some of the docs on http://avalon.apache.org and also following the simple "HelloWorld" tutorial available for download. I'm interested in using Avalon for many reasons, and despite the documentation, believe it to be "The Right Thing" in many ways for projects both personal and professional. However, I still can't get it to run. I've tried this several times over the years and have found Avalon to be in a consitently, and frustratingly, disarrayed state. So, I'm trying to learn it again, with help, and contribute changes back to the project to try and improve what's out there so it's easier to use. As such I've documented complaints and my attempt to get avalon (or phoenix at least) running. It's here : http://www.alienswede.com/JSPWiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ApacheAvalon Feel free to leave comments if you like. I can copy that page into my email if people find it time consuming to read off site. I'm interested in getting the docs updated (I find confusing mention of excalibur, which I know to be old, but is still in most of the docs) and also get a consistently working demo that people can deploy and start running. I'd like to lower the barrier of entry to Avalon in general. I appreciate any help you can give me towards these goals. I will state ahead of time that while I'm perfectly willing to pull code from CVS and build things from there, that this is a high barrier to entry to the casual user. Also having outdated docs makes this harder. I think you guys have some great software but over the years my casual interest hasn't been able to penetrate these barriers. At the very least a working sample and clear project delineation and relationships would be immensly useful. Either way, I'll be moving/unemployed and with internet feed shortly so I'll have time to work on this and am interested in doing so. If you can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
