Before answering - there are a bunch of improvements in this area that have been applied to 3.3. My guess is that your running the released 3.2.5 - is that correct?
Nearly Stephen: Implementation: merlin:merlin-impl;3.2.4 (20040112.072514).
Close enough.
Do you suggest running with the latest snapshot then?
Not unless there is a wiz-bang-cannot-live-without feature that you need.
What has changed in respect of repository managment?
Under 3.2 a lot of effort went into getting the embedding model into shape and that involved the introduction of a consistent approach to the management of properties. However - there was room for improvement. One item was related to the merlin is simply an application launched by the repository application and properties can be declared for each (meaning properties spread across two families of property files).
Under 3.3 we have improved things by creating an initial application context that is used by the repository and subsequently by merlin and this enables the consolidation of properties into a single group - e.g. "merlin.properties".
Cheers, Stephen.
Well, I'll look at that when I build the SNAPSHOT and its site.
