CompositionEventListener question

Is it possible in Merlin 3.2.5 to have trusted components that have 
access to all of the other componets or that can be notified of 
composition events via the CompositionEventListener interface. I know 
this is somewhat along the lines of the facilities that are present in 
the 3.3 branch but I cannot really wait for that to be a bonified 
release and cannot use it until it is for project management reasons.
